The 2007 Nationwide Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey

The 2007 Nationwide Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey will be undertaken by the Tropical Disease Foundation on behalf of the Department of Health. The training of field teams has been done. Fifty clusters selected by multi-stage sampling, representing the nationwide population will be visited by survey teams. .Chest radiography and sputum examination of patients suspected to have pulmonary tuberculosis will be undertaken in the cluster population of 30,000 individuals.

The field survey will commence July 16 and will be completed November 16, 2007. Results will be used to determine the TB burden in the Philippines and trends over time to assess the impact of the DOTS program of the National TB Program implemented by the Department of Health and the Local Government Units.
