TDF officer assists Vietnam NTP
Dr. Mamel Quelapio, Executive Officer of TDF’s Programmatic Management of Drug-Resistant TB (PMDT), was in Vietnam from September 29 to October 2 to provide technical assistance to the country’s National TB Program. She went to the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh as part of a Green Light Committee (GLC) monitoring mission to assess the NTP’s readiness for expansion in implementing programmatic MDR-TB management. GLC is a technical advisory body of the Stop TB Partnership and the World Health Organization (WHO) on the prevention and control of MDR-TB and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB).
Dr. Quelapio’s visit is in line with TDF’s recent launch as Regional Model TB Center in the Western Pacific funded by USAID and with technical support from the WHO’s Western Pacific Regional (WHO/WPR) office.
